Temporarily suspension of Open Class gliders:
Preamble:
The sense of this measurement is to ban Open Class models for safety reasons after the accidents on different competitions with the latest competition models.
It is not our aim to forbid special cases like XS-sizes or light-versions of known EN-models for this championship which is flown "Serial" because of a temporarily suspension of Open Class. The reason is that pilots are flying XS gliders in the good belief, that they are as safe as the EN-homologated sizes. Now we have temporarily suspended Open Class gliders in our championship. We think it is wrong to force these pilots to buy a new glider or to fly with a too big model. As soon this temporary suspension is taken in to force for long time, we have to be strict and with good reason we can ask these pilots to choose an other brand or glider.
Rules.
The most important: Fairness and human sense.
1 a It is forbidden to make any modification to the homologated model.
1 b It is forbidden to click in a second speed system during the flight or to use any (technical) device to pull down the risers or lines.
2 You have to fly within the official weight range
3 Small sizes from normally homologated Models are accepted.
4 Light versions from normally homologated Models are accepted only to EN-B (because of thinner lines it could be a sportive advantage).
5 If the glider is equipped with a non homologated Trimmer and Speed System, this must be fixed or limited to its normal, homologated measures. It must be impossible to open the fixation during the flight.
6 If you use a not-homologated trimmer or if you need to make loops in the lines to adjust the line length because of stretching/shrinking, you should be aware, that your glider is subject for checking and you should provide the necessary (line-) plans. to the organizer.
Checking:
- The organizer has the right to ask for every glider for checking.
- The official EN-tolerance for line lengths is +/- 1cm
Penalty:
0 points for the task, including all previous tasks.
Remark:
Checking gliders will be similar to checking cloud flying. There is a big gray-area. But if one is caught, the penalty must be severe.
